Güera means blonde woman in mexican spanish. 
Over-represented by mexican media, being güera is being successful, seen.

For this project I chose to focus solely on tabloids,
where I could find photos of the mexican elite
and sneak on them by dressing up,
becoming blonde and looking the part.

This strategy serves a double purpose; 
being part of those few chosen to be represented on mexican media,
and shows that these people are playing the same game,
looking their best and being where they are supposed to be.

Güera (2018) aludes, in general, to the tribulations in appearances;
in particular, to racial discrimination,
in an act of humoristic performative dispalcement.

Condicionada por los media, la güera es sinónimo de posibilidad de éxito.

En este proyecto, cambié de color de pelo y me vestí para la ocasión
para luego posicionarme dentro diferentes escenarios que abundan en revistas de sociales,
“ganándome” así un lugar dentro de la alta sociedad mexicana.

Esta estrategia sirve a un doble propósito:
Lograr ser parte de los pocos con el privilegio de ser representados en medios mexicanos
y demostrar el juego de identidad en el que ellos mismos están involucrados.

Güera (2018) alude, en general, a las tribulaciones de la apariencia;
en particular, a la discriminación racial, 
en un acto de desplazamiento performativo y humorístico.
